Born and grew up in Kiel (Germany). Got in touch with sailing at an early age (0.5 years old). Started sailing dinghies himself, then keelboats. Sailing highlights are Atlantic crossing (2007) and Louis Vitton Acts 4&5 (2005). World champion in the one design class X-99 (2005).
