As a seasoned sailor with a lifelong passion for the sport, I am thrilled to submit my personal statement for the prestigious Pacific Cup sailing race. With over two decades of experience on the open waters, I bring a unique blend of skill, determination, and expertise to the competition.
From the moment I first stepped foot on a sailboat at the age of five, I knew that sailing would become an integral part of my life. Over the years, I have honed my abilities, achieving second place in the Canadian Youth Nationals during my formative years. This early success laid the foundation for my enduring love affair with sailing.
My first Pacific Cup was in 2022, onboard Rage. I was placed in the role of Navigator and took the challenge head on, with my personal victory of picking the correct lay line into the bay 450nm out! This helped us secure a 3rd place finish after a challenging "soupy" race.
Beyond my sailing accomplishments, I bring a wealth of navigational expertise to the table. As a Watchkeeping Mate unlimited licensed crew member on large ships, I have navigated through diverse and challenging environments, including the unforgiving waters of the Canadian Arctic. These experiences have instilled in me a deep respect for the sea and a keen understanding of the intricacies of navigation in various weather conditions.
In the upcoming Pacific Cup race, I am eager to once again sail against some of the best sailors in the world.
